What are the biggest challenges facing Community Housing in Australia?

The recent Community Housing Workshop we held in Sydney provided 12 organisations with a chance to discuss the challenges they’re facing in the sector, as well as the optimal usage of SPM Assets across the sector. Attendees gained valuable insights that will help them in their day-to-day roles from our presentations and workshops that drew on user experiences. Expectations at the start of the day ranged from gaining a deeper knowledge of our software, to asking questions on specific activities and tasks. There was a particular focus placed on the analysis and reporting capabilities SPM Assets offers, which allow organisations to take their assessment data to the next level. 

The attendees had a chance to prioritise agenda items, with the following software features seen as being the most critical for the sector:

• Lifecycle analysis using risk.
• Applying budgets and condition formatting.
• Scenario modelling.
• Project planning. 

A workshop session discussed the most pressing influences across the industry, and these are summarised as:

• Housing transfers.
• Potential changes in Government policy (in light of recent and upcoming elections).
• Survey methodology and maintaining asset registers across differing methodologies.
• Benchmarks and indices.
• Managing the requirements of portfolios that transcend across multiple states.

Participants were also treated to an early viewing of the upcoming new product, Programs by SPM Assets, which received positive feedback from the audience.
